‘The wise man does not expose himself needlessly to danger’
‘The wise man does not expose himself needlessly to danger, since there are few things for which he cares sufficiently; but he is willing, in great crises, to give even his life, knowing that under certain conditions it is not worthwhile to live’ – Aristotle
Aristotle, who for a while lived here on Lesvos, wrote those words over 2000 years ago, but their meaning has never been more relevant. Anybody who has watched the boats land here on the shores of Greece and witnessed the fear in the faces of those they carry, is left with a question – what horrors and dangers have these people fled to make the risks of this journey worthwhile?
